Two months later, after several weeks with no new confirmed cases, some of the focus is finally shifting to reopening the country to prevent an economic meltdown: the economy is now undergoing a phased reopening, and Aruba hopes to start allowing restricted tourist entry between June 15 and July 1.

To this end, the Public Health Department has defined minimum requirements to ensure that everybody complies with the following preventative measures:
• measures to ensure a distance of 1.5 meters;
• measures to facilitate and promote good hygiene;
• measures to ensure that no employees or customers showing coronavirus symptoms (coughing, shortness of breath, sore throat) enter the business premises.

The Social Security Bank (SVB) and the Public Health Department have prepared a leaflet describing the minimum standards that businesses must satisfy to comply with these measures. This leaflet is available online in Papiamento, Dutch, English and Spanish, at https://www.svbaruba.org/covid-19/

It is important for businesses to comply with the minimum standards, which will be monitored by a special taskforce. Businesses that are found not to be in compliance may be ordered to close.

Compliance is necessary also for businesses to apply for the Aruba Health & Happiness Code seal, which the Aruba Tourism Authority and the Department of Public Health have introduced in partnership with a number of tourism organizations (AHATA, AAA, APA, AFBA and DCA). Businesses that sign up for this, if they are compliant with the measures described above, will receive the Aruba Health & Happiness Code seal. Seals will be made available in phases, starting with food & beverage, shops, supermarkets and accommodation.

The various steps for obtaining the Aruba Health & Happiness Code seal are available online at https://www.arubacovid19.org/ahhc

The first step is to register no later than May 31, 2020. Businesses wishing to sign up must then select the appropriate checklist (by line of business) and complete it (steps 2 and 3). The Aruba Health & Happiness Code seal will be awarded if the business can provide a sufficient number of positive responses (step 4). The seal will become final if the business successfully passes a compliance audit by the Department of Public Health (step 5).

Regards,

Estimado cliente,

• medidas para garantizar una distancia de 1,5 metros;
• medidas para facilitar y promover una buena higiene;

Saludos,

Dear client, In the second half of March, the Aruba government imposed a number of restrictions in order to tackle the coronavirus, including the lockdown, curfew, and shelter-in-place order.
