To that purpose, an agreement (“Agreement to Reduce Working Hours”) had to be signed by both the employer and its employees and uploaded into the SVB’s online portal, indicating a reduced percentage of the working hours between 60% and 80%.

However, the Minister has now announced that employees for whom the employer receives salary subsidy may be paid their full salary (i.e., the employer may supplement the salary subsidy up to 100%). The signed agreement that is uploaded into the SVB’s online portal may therefore indicate a percentage between 60% and 100% (instead of between 60% and 80%).

This flexible rule to apply a percentage higher than 80% requires a revised agreement template. Employers that wish to make use of this rule, including employers that have already uploaded a signed agreement, should send an email to lsflex@svbaruba.org to request the template. Employers that have already uploaded a signed agreement must then submit the revised agreement by returning it to the same email address. Employers that have not yet signed and upload an agreement should upload the revised agreement into the SVB’s online portal.

Employers that have not yet signed and uploaded an agreement, and that do not wish to make use of the new flexible rule, may use the original template, i.e., the template in the SVB’s online portal (and indicate a percentage between 60% and 80%). Employers that have already uploaded a signed agreement and do not wish to make use of the flexible rule do not need to take any further action.

To allow time for the new rule to be applied, the deadline for submitting applications has been pushed back to June 19. The SVB will pay the salary subsidy between June 26 and June 29.

Lastly, the Minister has stressed that the purpose of the salary subsidy scheme is to save jobs. It may not be used to pay employee termination packages.

Regards,

Estimado cliente,

Saludos,

Dear client, The Minister of Finance, Economic Affairs and Culture held a press conference yesterday, where she announced some changes to the salary subsidy scheme for June.
