Under that scheme, individual SMEs can apply for a fixed allowance of AWG 4,000 per quarter. The scheme will remain in place for up to 9 months, subject to a maximum of AWG 40 million.

The first allowances were paid in April. Yesterday, the SVB sent out an email to all eligible SMEs, containing details on the second allowance, which is scheduled to be paid this month. The conditions for the second allowance are similar to the conditions for the first, with two exceptions. Firstly, the allowance was previously conditional upon the company being an SME according to the definition used by the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), with a maximum of 50 employees registered with the SVB. The revised conditions no longer refer to the definition used by the CBS; instead, the company must be registered with the SVB with at least 1 employee, and no more than 50. Secondly, a new condition for the second allowance is that the company must have filed its BBO/BAZV/BAVP returns for the previous quarter (April, May and June 2020). The other conditions remain the same, with the expected drop in turnover by at least 25% now applying to the months of July, August and September 2020 (i.e., the months for which the second allowance is paid).

The first allowances under the financial aid scheme for SMEs were paid out automatically to all eligible SMEs. For the second allowance, however, the company must submit an application through the SVB’s online portal (https://misvb.svbaruba.org/). Applications must be submitted no later than July 27.

On July 30, the SVB will start paying the second allowances into to the bank accounts registered with the SVB.

Regards,

Estimado cliente,

Saludos,

Dear client, In our e-mail of April 23, we informed you on the financial aid scheme for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) suffering a loss of turnover in result of the Corona crisis.
